Georgeen I. Peebles, 71, went peacefully to the arms of the Lord on October 19, 2018.
Born in Troy, she was the oldest child to George Ingersoll and Helen Brown Ingersoll, and the loving wife of 48 years to Robert M. Peebles, Jr.
Georgeen graduated from Stillwater High School, SUNY Plattsburgh and received her Master’s Degree from the College of St. Rose.
After teaching 2nd grade for 35 years at St. Anthony’s School, St. Joseph’s School, and St. Patrick’s School, as well as the Summer Enrichment Education Program (SEEP) at Hudson Valley Community College, she continued to work at New York State Department of Parks and Recreation, Historic Park and Preservation Office at Peebles Island, as a receptionist.
Georgeen was very active at the former First Presbyterian Church, now Cornerstone Community Church, and participated in many community activities. Georgeen loved dogs, co-mothered her daughter’s friends, and she was a beloved friend to many. Georgeen will be particularly remembered for her warm heart and selfless generosity.
In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by her daughter Alison Peebles Madigan (Rich Madigan) of Alexandria, Virginia, her siblings Beth Ingersoll, Nell Schneider (Rudy), Kenneth Ingersoll and Tracey Ingersoll.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 27, 2018 at the Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh (570 3rd Avenue, Troy). A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
