John F. Mennillo, 92, of Fifth Avenue passed away on December 8, 2017.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Antonio Mennillo and Theresa Russo Mennillo and the loving husband to the late Marjorie Goodwin Mennillo, she died in 2012.

Raised and educated in Troy. John retired from the Federal Government, Corps of Army Engineers-Troy Federal Locks as a Lock Master.

 He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and in the National Guard, he retired from the Unites States Army Reserves, 364th General Hospital as a MSG.

He volunteered with the former Speigleaires Drum and Bugle Corps, he was one of the founding fathers of Lansingburgh Pop Warner Football (Troy Patriots), a member of the Mason’s, the Troy Pistol Club and the Lansingburgh Vets Club, in 2007 he served as the Grand Marshall in the Memorial Day Parade.

John is survived by his children Deborah (Michael) Catellier of Troy, John (Deborah) Mennillo of Loudonville, Linda (Brian Baker) Mennillo of Troy, Diane (Brian) Ishman of Troy, his eighteen grandchildren, his eighteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, his sister Theresa Prescott and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Marjorie, John was predeceased by his siblings Rose DeTomaasi, Rinaldo Mennillo, Leonora Bownan and Arthur Mennillo.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Funeral service 10:00 am on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
