Georgeen Peebles

Georgeen I. Peebles, 71, went peacefully to the arms of the Lord on October 19, 2018.

Born in Troy, she was the oldest child to George Ingersoll and Helen Brown Ingersoll, and the loving wife of 48 years to Robert M. Peebles, Jr.

Georgeen graduated from Stillwater High School, SUNY Plattsburgh and received her Master’s Degree from the College of St. Rose.

After teaching 2nd grade for 35 years at St. Anthony’s School, St. Joseph’s School, and St. Patrick’s School, as well as the Summer Enrichment Education Program (SEEP) at Hudson Valley Community College, she continued to work at New York State Department of Parks and Recreation, Historic Park and Preservation Office at Peebles Island, as a receptionist.

Georgeen was very active at the former First Presbyterian Church, now Cornerstone Community Church, and participated in many community activities. Georgeen loved dogs, co-mothered her daughter’s friends, and she was a beloved friend to many. Georgeen will be particularly remembered for her warm heart and selfless generosity.

In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by her daughter Alison Peebles Madigan (Rich Madigan) of Alexandria, Virginia, her siblings Beth Ingersoll, Nell Schneider (Rudy), Kenneth Ingersoll and Tracey Ingersoll.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 27, 2018 at the Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh (570 3rd Avenue, Troy). A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Georgeen may be made to the Service Ministeries at Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh 570 3rd Avenue, Troy, NY 12182. Please visitwww.mcloughlinmason.com

Bob and Alison, we share your grief at the passing of an incomparable woman, wife and mother. I treasure the times of fun and laughter we shared when we taught at St. Joseph's. She will be sorely missed but how glad we are that her proud spirit is now free of pain and full of joy.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Georgeens passing. She will always be remembered for her great ability to laugh and be silly and for all the joyful moments we shared many years ago. Her warm heart and the spirit of her soul graced my life and my deepest condolences go out to her family. She was a gift.
