James Holland Jr
James Wilson Holland Jr. was born July 18, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York to the late James W Holland Sr. and Ola Mae Thomas Holland. James graduated from Boys High School in 1968 and attended New York Community College for two years before deciding to pursue a career in the U.S. Air Force. James proudly served his country as a medic for twenty plus years, which included a tour in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, He moved his family to Latham, New York and worked for the Visiting Nurses Association.
In 1972, James married Barbara Ann Gaynor in Brooklyn, New York. This union blessed them with four daughters: Tasha, Ebony, AnDreá and DaNea. James had a fondness for watching Classic movies, Westerns, Mysteries and police procedurals. He enjoyed an occasional horse race, Youtube and rooting for the New York Mets and the New York Football Giants.
James was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his grand children and great grandchildren. The ultimate love of his life was his wife of 45 years who he affectionately called “Bee.” On May 8, 2017, around 5 AM in the morning, James Holland Jr. lost his battle with Lung Cancer and COPD. Appropriately, he died at home in his wife’s arms moments after saying goodbye.
He was preceded in death by his daughter AnDreá Patrice Holland; his parents James Wilson Holland Sr. and Ola Mae Holland; his brother Louis Holland; and great granddaughter Essence Marie. He is survived by Wife: Barbara Ann Holland Daughters: Tasha Michelle Holland, Ebony Nicole Holland, DaNea Monique Holland
Grandchildren: Marquis Jamal Holland, Laquesha Charmagne Holland, Quinell Xavier Holland-Terry. Darius Lijah Horne, Ava Nicole Horne, Amara Nakai Horne
Great Grandchildren: Dezmond A. Holland, Anorah Michelle Holland, Dayvon Julio Holland Brother : Jerome Holland, (wife)Valerie Holland and children Other : A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and great friends.
Family and friends are invited and may call from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday May 13, 2017 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Burial Monday at Calverton National Cemetery.
