John Freeman Caswell, 92, died on Sunday January 22, 2017, in his home after a long illness. He was the son of the late Beatrice Freeman and Charles Caswell of Troy. He was born August 9, 1924, at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Central High School as president of his class. He studied at Princeton University on a full scholarship and graduated in 1945. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1941-1943 during the occupation of Japan and the liberation of the Philippines. He worked in foreign services as a member of the C.I.A. for 25 years. He will be remembered as an intelligent, kind, respectful, and wonderful person by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at McLoughlin and Mason Funeral Home, 8 109th St., Troy. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saint Augustine's Catholic Church, 25 115th St., Troy, on Saturday, January 28, at 9 a.m. with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
