John O'Bomsawin

John O'Bomsawin, 54 of Hillview Court, Wynantskill passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 after a long battle with multiple myeloma and amyloidosis. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Andre and Patricia O'Bomsawin (Hyde) and husband of Alicia (Pasinella). Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of Troy High School.

John worked for Bridgestone/Firestone for over 30 years as a store manager. He was a school board member for the Wynantskill UFSD for nine years. He unselfishly served his community as a member of the Wynantskill Fire Department for 22 years. One of his greatest achievements was when he became Chief, and he proudly served in that position for seven years. He also took pride in mentoring many fellow firefighters, including his son Jonathan.

As a child, he loved his Hampton Beach vacations with his parents, and then later in life he continued that tradition with his own family. As his kids grew older, he enjoyed yearly vacations to Ocean City Maryland and several cruises with his family and close friends. In the past few years, even though ill, he so looked forward to his outings with the M.O.B. Squad.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include his children, Alyssa Corie (Jim), Jonathan and Joshua, his brother Andy O'Bomsawin. Also survived by his Aunt Jan Roberts (late Tom), Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Chuck Mattoon, Uncle Herbert and Aunt Barbara Hyde, Uncle Desmond and Aunt Joan O'Bomsawin, father-in-law, Joseph Pasinella, sisters-in-law Jennie Julian (Mike), Angie Sunkes (Tom), JoAnne McDermott (Bob), Tina DeBonis (Michael), Carol Donnelly (late Jimmy), brother-in-law Joseph Pasinella (Lois) and many nieces and nephews. In addition, John leaves behind many dear friends.

John was predeceased by his granddaughter Elizabeth Anne Corie, mother-in-law Anne Rymanowski and several aunts and uncles.

A special thanks to Albany Med's 2nd floor CCU nurses who treated John with such compassionate care.

Alicia and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. May God hold you in the palm of his hand as you find comfort and healing during this very difficult time. Although I did not personally know John, it is well known that he was a very loving husband and father. He is now your guardian angel forever. God bless all of you.

John, you lived a life on this earth that was truly amazing. You've saved so many lives and you are such a friendly man. I remember when Alicia first started working with us, she spoke so highly of you and soon Johnny began working with us and I remember how he used to talk about you and how he loved following in your footsteps and started pursuing volunteer firefighting and rescue services, i thought of him as an amazing person for wanting to be involed in that feild of saving lives and risking his. Then I finally met YOU! I thought you and Alicia were the most precious married couple, i seen the happiness and content in your faces when each of you spoke. Over the years working with Alicia we've shared so much conversation about each others lives and family and i really got to know all of you through her and Johnny by working with them. You O'bomsawins are such sweet amazing people, a very tightly knit family i gsthered. Alicia soon had asked me to capture a family reunion for her since i have a love for photography. When i met everyone, i felt so comfortable and everyone was so welcoming, i had a great time being a part of that awesome day where a whole family from miles away of eachother got together, it was beautiful to witness such love and laughter. Our work christmas parties were always fun! You and Alicia always dressed up so nicely! Over the years with you not being in perfect health was very hard for Alicia, I've never known someone as nurturing and caring as she was...you two are very lucky to have found eachother. I felt a special bond with you and Alicia because my fiance too has a heart condition and there was alot of information me and Alicia would exchange and could relate to eachother a bit. I've kept you in my heart and prayers John, to feel well and feel strong, I always felt extreme joy when you were progressing well. Reading the "saying" on the cards from your wake was so touching...Even though youre not physically with us on earth anymore, you're still here...here in the most beautiful ways...in perfect health, feeling great! Your spirit surrounds us...you'll still be fighting fires and saving lives... See you again someday.
