Leslie Smith

Leslie J. Smith, 69, passed away Friday March 4th, 2016 at his Albany NY home. Leslie was the son of the late Charles and Sarah Teabout Smith. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Jeannine Smith. He is survived by his brothers Isaiah Smith (Elaine), Clifford Smith (Joyce), his sister Serena Smith, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leslie was born in Amsterdam NY, on July 1st, 1946 where he attended and graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1964 receiving The Mohasco Arts Scholarship to FIT in NYC. Leslie moved to Albany NY, where he attended college at HVCC and graduated with honors and received his Associates in Applied Science and Bachelors in Human Services. Leslie also received an award for his work in Chemical Dependency Counseling by the Student Honors Convocation of HVCC. He spent his life serving others in need and working in social service positions. Leslie loved art, volunteered in the community, and spent a lot of time as a sponsor for chemical dependent people, struggling with addiction. Leslie touched the lives and hearts of all who knew him.
Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, March15th from 5 pm to 7 pm at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home in Troy, NY located at 8 109th Street, Troy, NY 12182.

To the Smith Family: I'm very sorry to read of the loss of your loved one. During times like these it's all to easy to feel helpless and without hope. When my family and I experience tragedy of this sort we often turn to the scriptures for endurance. Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time when death will be a thing of the past and our loved ones will be reunited with us. Continue to beg God for endurance until that time comes.

May you rest in peace dear Leslie. My condolences for the Smith family. I first met Leslie in August 1983 as a college senior and worked with him in the restaurant business over the years. He was a good friend with many times both happy and sad celebrated & observed. He will be greatly missed.

I am.extremely lucky to have known Leslie. He broadened the scope of my life, tickled my funny bone, showed me compassion and love. The last quality time we spent was making mashed potatoes together for Thanksgiving, alrhough I saw him many times after. He enhanced every meeting, every car ride, every errand with his quick wit and thoughtful demeanor. I will miss him very much.
