Robert Gordon Jr

Robert “Bob” R. Gordon, Jr., 69, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Robert R. Gordon Sr and Joyce Roberts Gordon and the loving husband to Patricia Howard Gordon. Bob graduated from Troy High School, class of 1966 and Siena College class of 1970, he served proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1970 to 1972, and he then served in the National Guard, retiring in 2008. Bob worked for the New York State Department of Civil Services as a classification and payroll specialist, retiring in 2003.

Bob was a 44 year member of the Troy Elks #141, serving as past Exalted Ruler, past State Vice President and past District Deputy, he also was a proud member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh.

In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his daughter Heather Gordon, his siblings William (Karen) Gordon, Roselyn (late Joseph) Panza, Kathleen (William) Snyder, Janice Gordon, Gary (late Linda) Gordon, Kevin (Kelly) Gordon and John Gordon, his aunts Sandy Gordon, Gerri Gordon, Lorraine Roberts and Louise Roberts, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his brother Bruce Gordon and sister Cecelia Weber.

A special “Thank You” to Bob’s family and friend Donna Riley for their care and compassion.

Calling hours will be Monday, August 13, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, NY 12182.

Funeral mass will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Holy Trinity Church, 122 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes, NY 12047. Burial will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Church 122 Vliet Blvd. Cohoes, NY 12047 or the Troy Elks #141, 134 North Greenbush Road, Troy, NY 12180.

I worked with Bob from 1978 to 1982, and he sponsored me for membership in the Troy Elks. I know Bob will be missed by all who knew him. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

I knew Bob from high school. He was always such a soft spoken, nice guy. As the coordinator for the Troy High Class of 1966 web site, I will post his obituary on our site in our Memory section and let our classmates know. My sincere condolences to his family.
