Shirley Bryant

Shirley A. (DeRepentigny) Bryant, 68, passed away peacefully from a hard fought battle of lymphoma cancer on Saturday January 28th at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born December 2, 1948, in Elizabethtown, New York. She was the daughter of the late Romeo DeRepentigny and Etta Denett. Shirley graduated from Catholic Central High School.

Shirley was a foster parent for over 30 years, fostering hundreds of children. She dedicated her life to raising children, sacrificing whatever was needed to give her children a wonderful life. All that knew her would describe Shirley as a selfless, caring woman, who thought of others before she thought of herself.

She is survived her husband James T. Bryant III. In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by 13 loving children; Charles DeRepentigny, Douglas DeRepentigny Sr., Michael (Michele) Miles, Angel (Fred) Pecak, Aliza (Chet) Davis, Adam (Sarah) DeRepentigny, Aaron (Monica) DeRepentigny, Alex DeRepentigny, Aric Bryant, Austin Bryant, Jonathan Bryant, and Alexis Bryant, a sister Lisa Cusak, brother Christopher Greene, 19 adoring grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition, she cherished her nieces and nephews, Michelle (Jamie) Maloney, Jodie (Darren) Riccio, and Edward (Cindy) Gamble. Shirley was predeceased by her son George Miles Jr., her sister Madeline Hebert, and her first husband George Miles Sr.

The DeRepentigny-Bryant family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and Albany Medical Center.
