Albert J. Caron

Troy-It is with great sadness that the family of Albert J. Caron of Troy, NY announce his passing on February 16th, 2022, at the Van Rensselaer Manor. He was 94 years old. He was born in Troy in 1927 and lived on Hutton Street until his marriage in 1963. Al’s life was rooted in family and his Catholic faith. His character was demonstrated in his love for his family, his integrity in personal and professional settings, and his kindness and generosity of heart to others. Al was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He was a great talker with a huge repertoire of stories that he loved to tell to all.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne M. Caron; his three children Sean J. Caron (Margaret Baldwin Caron) of Burnt Hills, NY, Patrick N. Caron of Phoenix, AZ, and Mary E. Pierce (Leonard A. Pierce) of North Reading, MA, and former daughter-in-law Anne Hoffman Caron of Hutchinson, MN. He is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren Nolan J. Caron, Allison M. Caron, and Nora E. A. Pierce, brothers-in-law Donald and Jim Murray, sister-in-law Rosemary Lattof, and 10 nieces and nephews.

Al was a graduate of Lasalle Institute in Troy and the Troy Business School with an AS degree in accounting. He was the owner-proprietor of Tri-City Auto Collision on 12th street in Troy for 33 years – a business he and his partners built from the ground up. He was through-and-through a “car guy” with a succession of grand automobiles – convertibles, wood-paneled station wagons, and even a couple of Cadillacs. Al lived in his treasured home on Lavin Court for the 58 years of his marriage – raising children and grandchildren, welcoming family, and making life-long friends with the neighbors. He was a great fan of local sports teams including Siena Saints basketball, RPI hockey, and the Boston Red Sox. He treasured his annual vacations to Cape Cod – building life-long memories with his family. Al was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus for both the Troy Council and then the St. Patrick’s council. He was a regular communicant of St. Patrick’s until its closing and acted as a trustee of the parish for its last 5 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Al’s family at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 109th St., Troy, NY on Sunday, March 20th from 4pm-7pm. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21st, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church, 25 115th St., Troy, NY. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Troy.  Please visit www.mcloughlinmason.com
