Angela F. Fera Fish, 92, entered into eternal life on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 23, 1928 and raised in Troy, she was the oldest daughter of the late Francis J. and Margaret A. Fera (Quinn). She was the beloved wife and sweetheart of the late John J. (Jack) Fish who predeceased her on August 24, 2000. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 23, 2000.
Angela grew up in South Troy among her Italian relatives, enjoying her heritage. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy in 1946. She was employed at Montgomery Ward before marrying. After marrying, Angela and Jack lived in Troy. They moved to Valley Falls in 1975. They then moved to Johnsonville before returning to Troy in 1999. Angela was a stay at home Mom, returning to the workforce in 1980. Angela retired from NYS Higher Education in Albany in 1993 to enjoy retirement with Dad.
Mom and Dad raised their children with love, instilling in them compassion and respect for others. Mom had a way of knowing what we all needed, whether it was hugs, advice or soothing our tears. She was quite handy with her sewing machine as well as knitting hats and mittens for us all. Mom loved to read and also watch old movies, such as The Wizard of Oz. She also was a big fan of Frank Sinatra music and dancing with Dad.
Angela is survived by her 8 children, Mary (Chuck) Wilsey, twins Angela (Pard) Chan and Alice Hartshorn, Nancy (Joe) Valler, John J. Fish, Jr, Paula Fish, Peter Fish (Brenda) and Frances (Mark) Csontos, her ten grandchildren: Zhenelle Fish, Amelia (Brian) Manders, Angela (Arthur) Lynds, Joshua (Gwen) Borin, Michelle (Andy) Ehrlich, Emilee (Matt) Gorfien, Tami Hartshorn, Alyssa O’Connor, Michael Fish and Aonyaih Fish, her 10 great grandsons, her brother-in-law John Thorpe and many nieces, nephews and cousins from the Fish and Fera Families.
In addition to her parents and her husband Jack, Angela was predeceased by her sisters Margaret (the late Nick) Ciampolillo, Catherine Thorpe, MaryAnn Stewart, her baby sister Frances Ann who passed away as a small child and her late daughter in law, Lisa Fish in 1996.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9:30 am on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Augustine’s Church, 25 115th Street, Lansingburgh. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
