Angeline T. Nicholas, 98, of Troy, passed away on October 6, 2023, at the Eddy Village Green.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late James A. Triantafillou and Erifile Bobarakis Triantafillou and the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Nicholas with whom she shared 66 wonderful years.
A graduate of Troy High School and Troy Business School, Angie worked as a legal secretary for several prominent law firms in Troy until her retirement to care for her mother. Angie was a lifelong member of St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church where she actively volunteered her time in many capacities. Over the years, she was a Sunday School teacher, President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, Parish Council Secretary, and member of the church choir. She was also responsible for the church Memorial Fund for many years. Angie was passionate about cooking and baking and was instrumental in food prep for the annual Greek Festival. Many of her recipes are still used today. She could always be found in "Angie's Kitchen" where she would often prepare meals to bring to local shelters. She enjoyed showing love to her family through her food, but most of all, she delighted in spending time with her beloved granddaughters and teaching them her love of cooking. Angie was a kind person with a great sense of humor. You could often hear her say when entering a room, "Here I am, you lucky people".
Angie is survived by her loving daughter Stephanie Houser, and her son-in-law, Bruce A. Houser of Troy. She was the cherished "yiayia" to Alexia Houser of Buffalo and Dimitra N. Houser of Troy. She was especially close to her sister-in-law, Victoria Nicholas, whom she loved dearly. She was also a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Angie is also survived by her brother Socrates (late Evelyn) Triantafillou. She was predeceased by her siblings, Steven J Triantafillou, Andrew J. Triantafillou, and Katherine Kolaian.
Her family would like to thank the staff at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes for the excellent care she received during her time there.
Calling hours will be held Friday October 13, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral services at 11:00 am all at St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church, Troy. Burial to follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church located at 909 River St. Troy, NY 12180.
