Anna May Hilton Mulligan, 93 of Seventh Avenue, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late J. Charles Hilton and Agnes O'Connor Hilton and beloved wife of the late John C. Mulligan who died in 2011. They were married for 65 years.
Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1939, Anna worked for New York State Department of Labor for 24 years, retiring in 1985. Anna was a woman of faith and will be remembered as a gracious, thoughtful and generous woman who treasured her family. She influenced those she met with her understanding heart, her ready smile and amazing sense of fun and the world is a much richer place because of her life among us. She enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church and the former St. Patrick's Church and former St. Paul's Church, Troy.
Survivors include her five children, John C. Mulligan, Jr. (Donna) of The Villages, FL, Gary J. Mulligan (Pam) of Troy, Colleen Mulligan Heyward (Dave) of Wynantskill, Nancy A. Mulligan of Willows, CA, Michael D. Mulligan of Troy, 13 grandchildren, Marcia Cushman, John Mulligan, III, Mark, Timothy and Todd Mulligan, Tina O'Brien, Kelly Mulligan, Matthew Mulligan, Dr. Elizabeth Mulligan, Dr. Molly Mulligan, Katie and Jennie Heyward, and Maura Mulligan, two step grandchildren David Schumaker and Tammy Anderson, ten great grandchildren, daughter in law Geri Mulligan of Niskayuna, and several nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her two sons William J. Mulligan and Robert V. Mulligan, two brothers Thomas I. Hilton and Robert K. Hilton and a daughter in law Mary Mulligan.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice, especially Tracey and Colleen, Dr. Russell Wenecur and Judy, and Dr. Perumal for all their care and support.
Funeral services will be held 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Fr. David Jones officiating.
Burial will following at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
