Arlene Hug

Arlene S. Hug, 68, of Apex, NC passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Born in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward and Estelle (Lewchanin) Farrell. She lived in Troy, NY most of her life then moved to Apex, NC in 2009 for her cancer treatment at Duke Cancer Center Hospital. Arlene was a 1965 graduate of Troy High School. She went on to pursue a career with the Rensselaer County Court System from 1973 until 2007. Arlene also worked as Court Clerk at the Albany County Supreme Court. Arlene had a great passion for reading and if you didn't see a book in her hand, she was watching her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox play or loving on her dog Sadie. Arlene lived for her family especially her grandchildren who were her world. Survivors include her son, Thomas E Hug, (Juliana) Wheaton Ill; her daughter, Shelly Hug, Apex, NC; her grandchildren, Cody Hug, Apex, NC; Michael Hug, Edgewater, FL; her siblings, Mary Farrell, Wynantskill, NY; Kathleen Hawkins, Colonie, NY; Greg (Cathy) Farrell, Troy, NY; Kevin (Joan) Farrell, Southbury, CT; and several nieces, nephews and close friends who meant so much to her. Arlene was preceded in death by her brothers Edward (Joyce), Michael, John and Bernie Farrell. Relatives and friends may call at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Friday, April 17th from 4-7p.m. located at Eight (8) 109th Street, Troy. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 18th at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave., Troy. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, Arlene requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belford Road, Suite 300, Jackson, FL 32256.
