Barbara Holland

Early Monday morning near the midnight hour, July 22, 2019, Barbabra Ann Gaynor Holland lost her battle with Leukemia. She slipped peacefully into the night while being surrounded by music, family and friends. Barbara was born in Bertie County, NC to Willie Mack Gaynor and Lois Cowan Gaynor on December 11, 1950. She was fondly called “B” by her husband and relatives. She graduated from Franklin Lane High School in Brooklyn, NY and St John’s Episcope School of Nursing, Brooklyn, NY. She was a devoted nurse for more than forty-two years. As a military wife she took her skill set around the world. She was able to provide care for people from Germany to Illinois .Her last assignment was with the VA Hospital in Albany, NY. She was happily married to James Holland for more than 45 years and from that unit they were blessed with four daughters. She was the embodiment of the word matriarch and truly fulfilled the roll. She will be sorely missed for her love, patience and humor. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband James Holland, daughter AnDrea PatriceHolland, father, Willie Mack Gaynor, and sister Dorothy Gaynor and great grand daughter Essence Marie. She leaves to cherish fond memories her mother Lois Gaynor, sisters, Delores Jones (John), Clarece Ekweonu, Denise Gaynor Mercado (Edwin), three daughters, Tasha Michelle Holland, Ebony Nicole Holland, and DaNea Monique Holland. Grandchildren: Marquis Jamal Holland, Laquesha Charmagne Holland, Quinell Xavier Holland-Terry, Darius LijahHorne, Ava Nicole Horne, and Amara Nakai Horne, Great grandchildren: Dayvon JulioHolland, Dezmond A. Holland, Anorah Michelle Holland and Jonah Marcel Holland, Brother in Law Jerome Holland (Valerie) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
