Beverly D. Cooley

Beverly Dolores (Burns) Cooley, matriarch of the Cooley clan, peacefully entered into heaven on August 13, 2023 after a long health battle with just about everything. Surrounded by her loving family, she is now with her soulmate and husband of 60 years, Thomas J Cooley, Sr.  She is now free of the physical limitations that she fought so hard to conquer and is now dancing with her friends and family who went before her.

She was born in Troy 90 years ago, daughter of George W. Burns and Emma (Rogers) Burns and predeceased by her brothers, George, Earl, Donald, Harry, and sister Veronica.

Beverly graduated from St. Patrick’s School in Troy, Catholic Central High School, and St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked as a registered nurse for over 4 decades at the Leonard and St. Mary’s Hospitals.  She loved her many years working in the emergency room and went on to earn an accreditation as an infection control specialist.  She also served as Chairman of the Board of Thomas Stanley Associates, LLC and Rose Beverly, LLC.

Family was Beverly’s pride and joy.  She had a unique relationship with each child and grandchild.  She was a devout Catholic sharing her strong belief of the Blessed Mother Mary and her conservative views with her family. She was also a talented seamstress, enjoyed restoring furniture and reupholstering worn pieces to give them new life.

Beverly is survived by her 5 loving children: Mary Ellen Adams (Jay), Lisa Marie Dillon (Steve), Thomas J. (TJ) Cooley Jr. (Chris), Mary Beth Bruno (Lee) and Ann Marie Burns (Ed); 15 grandchildren: Lauren, Brian, Shawn, Matthew, Sean, Megan, Thomas III, Catherine, Alexander, Liza, Anna, Ryan, Patrick, Eileen and Danny; 12 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Finnegan, Elijah, Scarlett, Thomas IV, Connor, Cameron, Levi, Ella, Ivy, Luna, and Amelia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Tess Burns and several nieces and nephews.  Our family would also like to thank her compassionate caregivers.
