Charles J. "Chuck" LaReau, 63 passed away on Tuesday, July 07, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He is now in the hands of his heavenly Irish family, who have prepared a spot for him.
Born on May 7, 1952 in San Bernardino, California, he was the son of the late John C. LaReau and Mary E. Meehan LaReau.
Chuck grew up in Albany in the New Scotland Avenue neighborhood (a true NSA man), and went to St. Teresa's, then Vincention Institute and graduated from Albany High School. He followed his dream and went to California to visit, then to work with Pacific Gas, then Bell Telephone. His time on the west coast began a lifelong love of the Raiders and the Lakers (while not abandoning his Yankees). He returned to Albany and became proprietor of Character's Pub in Troy. He later worked in various places, including Albany County Real Property, Conifer Park, and many private duty stints as caretaker for the elderly.
Chuck was a loving, spiritual and caring individual and a wonderful brother and Uncle. He had a large network of friends that he made through his years working with those who needed his help in Fellowship. He was also greatly helped by those same friends. His counseling, friendship and his reaching out to countless individuals affected a great many lives.
Survivors include his brothers Jack LaReau (Charlene) of Brunswick, Joe LaReau (Late Sue) of Nutley, NJ, Jim LaReau (Felicia) of Albany, his sister M. Terri Pennisi (Vince) of Brunswick, as well as his nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his long time special friend Suzanne Nardacci and his former wife Judi Jank.
The LaReau family would like to thank the excellent and caring staff in St. Mary's ICU (especially the Kates), and the staff in the Hospice Unit. We would also like to personally thank Doctor Rashid for his great help and generous use of his time in this difficult period.
