TROY- Charles Augustus Spall, 87 of Gurley Avenue entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Springs Nursing Center.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Raymond A. Spall and Elizabeth C. Nailor Spall.

Raised and educated in Lansingburgh, Charles was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1947.

He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1948 to 1957.  Charles worked as a dairy and produce manager for the (former Central Markets) Price Chopper in Troy for 23 years and later retiring from the Grand Union after 15 years.   He was a member of the Lansingburgh and Menands veteran clubs and the Pittstown Seniors.  Charles enjoyed bowling, with his son, and sports, especially the New York Giants.  He liked going to bingo, music, his trips with the Pittstown Seniors and going to the casinos with Shirley.

Survivors include his two sons John Spall (Barbara) of Troy, Karl Spall (Darlene) of Stillwater, five grandchildren Jesse Spall, Sara Spall, Shelby Spall, Lisa Muscente (Ben) and Jennifer Spall, two great grandchildren Luke Giroux and Eli Giroux, his beloved companion of 48 years Shirley Anderson of Troy.  He was also stepfather and grandfather to Shirley’s children.

Charles was predeceased by his former wife Maria Laier Spall who died in 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh with Rev. Clyde McCaskill officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.

Cremation will take place at the Gardner Earl Crematorium. Troy.

In memory of Charles donations may be made to the Pittstown Seniors, the Comfort Care at The Springs Nursing Home, Troy, or The Lansingburgh Vets Club.
