Surrounded by her devoted daughter, grandchildren, niece and her last living sister, Dorothy Grace passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 at the age of 95 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. Born on May 31, 1923 to the proud parents of Jennie E. (Phoenix) and Henry H. Claydon, Dorothy “Dottie” Grace (Claydon) was known to be the feisty one from day one. Her eldest sister, Ruth (Grace; deceased), would work hard to provide for the family, and her little sister, Lois (Edmiston), remained the beautiful baby. But the middle child, she was not overlooked; she stood out! Her fire red hair and movie star glasses are things that made her who she was.
She was married in 1941 to Donald J. Grace (deceased) in which she had two beautiful children, Donald H. Grace/Amador (deceased) and Susan M. Grace (Sutton). Her longtime companion, Dawson L. Belcher (deceased) adored Dorothy, and they spent many happy years together. Dorothy was an active member of Curves of Waterford, loved visiting the northeast coasts of Maine, drives to Manchester, and her favorite past time shopping. As she grew older, her loving daughter Susan Grace, stoodfast and advocated for her as her health declined to stay with homecare. Dorothy leaves behind her sister Lois Edmiston; daughter, Sue M. Grace (Sutton); granddaughters Jennifer E. Ramirez (Sutton) and Tamara Mang (Brown); son-in-laws Dani Ramirez and James D. Mang; great grandchildren Jacob D. Mang, George H. Mang and Lilly A. Mang; nieces Ruth Bauchiero (Edmiston) and Sarah “Sally” J. Michon, Winifred Grace-Lutz; nephews James H. Grace and Robert H. Edmiston; grand nephews Robert J. Bauchiero and Samuel Michon; grand nieces Sandra Denoia (Bauchiero) and Tess Michon.
A special thanks goes to the incredible staff at Samaritan Hospital and Hospice as they provided incredible support and compassion to the family.
