Dorothy B. Rockwell, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Francis Davis and Dorothy Burke Davis and beloved wife of Raymond Rockwell of Troy.
A lifelong Trojan, Dorothy was educated in St. Augustine's Academy and Knickerbacker Junior High School, and upon graduation from Lansingburgh High School, found employment in the offices of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and, later, Cornell University.
Dorothy was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Dorothy was a woman of faith and service and will be remembered as a gracious, thoughtful and generous woman who treasured her family, friends and religious community. She devoted much of her time to education, in capacities from volunteer to PTA officer, to "lunch lady", to teacher aide, all at Troy's School 14. Her retirement from the classroom saw an unforgettable display of appreciation and admiration from those with whom she worked. Vacations in Gloucester and Rockport were special times with her whole family.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Ray, include her four sons Christopher Rockwell (Tina) of Troy, Theron Rockwell (Theresa) of Ballston Lake, Patrick Rockwell (Colleen) of Jefferson, NY, Jesse Rockwell of Troy, seven grandchildren Emily, Rachel, Liam, Mia, Nadia, Claire and Victoria. Dorothy is also survived by her brother Edward Davis, her two sisters Marilyn Francesconi and Linda Page and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her three sisters Alice Pedlow, Georgianna Constantakes and Katherine Fahey.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people from AMC, NYOH and Community Hospice.
