Douglas Zmyewski

Douglas S. Zmyewski, 72 passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021 at his home. Born in Niskayuna and raised in Clifton Park, he was the son of the late Stephen Zmyewski and Helen Rivers Zmyewski and the loving husband of 46 years to Ellen Ann Jacobsen Zmyewski.

Douglas graduated from Shenendehowa High School, Russell Sage College and Empire State College. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1968 to 1974. Douglas retired from the New York State Department of Health as an Auditor, he worked 33 years retiring in 2003.

Douglas trained and raised German Shepherd’s for 33 years, he was inducted into the Men’s Senior Capital District Baseball Hall of Fame and he was a member of the Green Island Rod & Gun Club and a parishioner of Transfiguration Parish in Schaghticoke.

In addition to his wife Ellen, he is survived by his siblings Richard Zmyewski, Stephen (Jenell) Zmyewski and Carol (Neal) Vaught, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited and may call from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue. Lansingburgh. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am on Saturday at Transfiguration Parish, 17 S. Main Street, Schaghticoke. Burial will follow St. John’s Cemetery, Schaghticoke. Please note that social distancing, masks and occupancy limitations in the funeral and church are required.
