Troy-Edward F. Davis, 91, died on January 19, 2023 at his son’s home. Born in Troy on January 30, 1931, he resided in Lansingburgh his entire life.
He is the son of the late Francis J. Davis and Dorothy Burke Davis.
Ed served in the New York Army National Guard for over thirty years and was employed as a Command Administrative Assistant until he retired as a Major in may 1979. He worked for Hudson Valley College for thirteen years and retired as maintenance supervisor in April 1994. Ed is a 1948 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Troy.
He enjoyed bowling at Alpha Lanes and pitching softball in the Over Thirty Softball League for 32 years. In his spare time, he wrote many poems concerning birthdays, retirement, anniversaries, etc.
Ed was a life time member of the Tibbits Cadets, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh and belonged to the All Troy Athletic Club, the 210th Armor Association in Albany. In 2005 Ed was inducted into the Friends of 112th Street Sports Hall of Fame.
Ed was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Doris Mae Guild Davis, she died in 2005. He was the devoted father of Michael (Beverly) Davis of Troy, James Davis of Albany, Patricia (Edward) Roane of Virginia and Susan Davis of Troy, he is also survived by his grandchildren Ryan Davis, Shauna Davis, Gabrielle Roane, Jenna Roane, Jordan Roane, his great grandchildren Braeden Davis and Adelynn Davis, his sister Linda Page, his brother in law Raymond Rockwell and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Samaritan Hospital 5th Floor Pavilion and the Rensselaer County Hospice for the care and compassion.
In addition to his mother, father and wife Doris, Ed was predeceased by his siblings Alice Pedlow, Georgianna Contantakes, Marilyn Francesconi, Dorothy Rockwell, and Kathy Fahey.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday January 23, 2023 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 109 St., Troy, NY 12182. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at St. Augustine’s Church 25 115th Street, Troy. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
