Edward W. Duncan, 82, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Edward W. Duncan, Sr. and Mary E. McKnight Duncan and beloved husband of the late Anna Purner Duncan who died in 2008.
A lifelong Lansingburgh and Brunswick resident, he was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1951, and was active on many reunion committees. Mr. Duncan was a United States Army veteran. Ed was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He started building homes, many in the Bald Mountain area, and later became owner of Duncan Poured Foundations. Upon retirement he worked for the Town of Brunswick in several positions including Highway Superintendent. He enjoyed his trips with his wife and family to Maine and Florida. Among his joys was "be-beeping" around the Capital District to various job sites where his boys were working. Ed and Anne loved taking their grandchildren on expeditions around town. Ed will be remembered as a compassionate, loyal, generous and proud man, who treasured his family. He influenced those whom he met with his understanding heart, his ready smile and genuine loving concern.
Survivors include his four children; Edward F. "Ned" Duncan (Melissa), Debi Melsom (Jack), Kirk Duncan (Erin), Susan Winters (Todd) all of Brunswick, eight grandchildren Edward, Jason, Shannon and Carrie Duncan, Megan and Sydney Melsom, Colin and Morgan Winters, four brothers Richard Duncan (Margaret) of Waterford, David Duncan (Rita) of Brunswick, Thomas Duncan (Kathy) of Schenectady, Maurice "Moe" Duncan (Susan) of Lansingburgh, one sister Irene Stallmer (John) of Clifton Park and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his two year old daughter Diane Duncan, daughter in law Lori Morse Duncan, brother in law Chuck Gould, brother and sister in law Frank and Joan Purner and nephew Gary Gould.
The family wishes to give a heartfelt thanks to dad's guardian angel Val Fairhurst for all her love and care over the years.
