Edward "Ted" Smith

Albany- Edward (Ted) Smith, 68, of Albany completed his life journey on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017. He was an adopted son of the late Ethel Nuttall Smith of Cohoes and the late John M Smith of Latham. He was a class of 1967 graduate at Bethlehem Central and a 1971 graduate of Siena College. He is survived by his sisters Laurel Smith Aronstamm (George) of Colchester, CT, Donna Smith Nicholsen of Palm Springs, CA, and John C Smith of Delmar, NY. He is also survived by his special family of Ted Peltier, Godchildren Matt and Emily Peltier and Melissa Creighton, all of Ballston Lake, NY. He will be reunited with his beloved retriever Sadie. Having spent his winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and his summers on Lake George, he was able to enjoy much of the best that life can offer. As a resident of Executive House in Albany, he enjoyed the company of many special friends. As a world traveler he spent many years in Australia and all across Europe before his life career in the electrical industry where he was owner/president of Smith Electric and Ontario Electric Supply of Cohoes. As a firm believer in giving back to the industry where he made a living and the community that supported him, he gave freely of his time serving as President of the National Electrical Contractors Association (Albany Division), Director of the New York State Association of Electrical Contractors, Director of the Eastern Contractors Association, President of the Cohoes Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), and served on the board of the Cohoes Community Center. Ted was truly a loving and generous soul that enriched the lives of all he met. Services will be private with a memorial mass to be celebrated at a later date. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waterford.
