Brunswick-Ernest Charles Beatty, (Ernie) age 90, entered eternal life on Friday, July 9, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 7, 1930, to Ernest and Anna (Barringer) Beatty.
Ernie was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School Class of 1948.
After graduating high school, Ernie began working at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation as a Meter Reader and continued a rewarding career of opportunities and job promotions until he became Supervisor of High Voltage Substations for the Capital District. He and his team, nicknamed The Silent Seven, were sent all over the System on huge projects that overwhelmed the local operations. He retired after completing 42 and a half years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. Ernie enlisted in the Naval Reserve at the Naval Center in Troy. He served on the USS Quincy in the Engineering Force from 1952-1954. He shared fond memories from his service and often said “where else would I have learned so much and saw the world.” He was privileged to participate in a Patriot Honor flight to Washington DC in 2019.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann and his son Ronald.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; father of Debbie (Sandy), David, Kathy (Scott) and Kristin (Andy); his grandchildren Becky (James), Tony (Stephanie), Matt (Phoebe), Sean, Hallie, Jessica, Troy, James and Lily; and 6 great grandchildren.
Ernie and his wife, Ann, and their four children enjoyed 30 years of seasonal camping at Minerva Lake. After Ann’s passing, he married Nancy and gained a daughter, Kristin (Andy). Ernie and Nancy enjoyed a lifetime of love, travel and adventures in their 21 years together. Ernie was a dedicated parishioner of Trinity Church Lansingburgh, serving on the Vestry and a charter member of the Monday Morning Club for 70 years.
An avid fisherman and hunter, he was a lifetime member of the Brunswick Sportsman Club.
He volunteered at the Oakwood Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ernie’s family on Monday July 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at McLoughlin and Mason Funeral home, 8 109th Street, Troy NY 12182.
