Gerry Ann Craney Grasso, “Memere” 73 of Kestner Lane passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She fought a battle with ALS with all the strength she had.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Craney and Irene E. Perry Craney and beloved wife of Lawrence Grasso, they would have been married 40 years in June.

Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Troy High School.  Gerry retired in 1998 after 30 years as a Supervisor with the New York State Department of Civil Service and previously with the Department of Labor.  Gerry will be remembered for her humble and gentle nature, a compassionate and generous woman who gave of herself wholeheartedly to her family and friends.  She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Larry include her three daughters Kris Reynolds, of Clark Summit, PA, Dawn Megyeri (John) of Niskayuna, Michelle Bevevino (John) of Troy, two sons James Grasso (Kathleen), Jason Grasso (Melisa) of Latham, twelve grandchildren Colin Spataro (Phylicia), Nia Rowe, C.J. Reynolds, Angelica Reynolds, Imre Megyeri, Alyssa Bevevino, Dylan Reynolds, Perrie Rose Megyeri Quinn Reynolds, Jula Megyeri, Isabella Bevevino, Ava Megyeri, four great grandchildren David Vogel, Raena Spataro, Julianna Spataro, Roman Spataro, two brothers Paul Craney (Margie), Peter Craney (Ann) all of Houston TX, Kathy Lennon (Donald) of Yarmouth, ME, several nieces and nephews and her dear friend Carleen McLaughlin.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Roberta Miller, Tricia O’Keefe, RN, the Staff at St. Peter’s ALS Center, Northeast Home Medical Equipment, Empire Home Infusion and Community Hospice, especially Elizabeth Hanlon, RN.-

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy.

Inurnment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Calling hours will take place from 4 to 7 pm. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy.

Memorial donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to the St. Peter’s ALS Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, NY 12205.
