Heinz C. Haag, beloved husband to Barbara Haag, beloved father to Jeanne Cavanaugh (Mark) and Donald Haag, cherished grandfather to Erik Cavanaugh, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospital Hospice on December 30, 2015 after a long illness.
Heinz was born in Kirchberg, Germany on May 31, 1935, he was the son of the late August and Martha Haag. He arrived in New York August 16, 1935 with his family.
Heinz was a tool and die maker for Tek Hughes in Watervliet, he retired in 1998 after 45 years of service.
Heinz was a lifelong accordionist having traveled to New York City to be on the Ted Mack talent show and also locally performed on the teenage barn. He entertained at many functions as a member of two local bands.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Helmut Haag and Alfred Haag. He is also survived by a sister in law Lorraine Haag.
The family would like to thank the 6th floor staff and Samaritan Hospital for their wonderful care especially Kristen and Robin.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Funeral services will be 10:00 on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
