Henry D. “Skip” Trahan 74, of Fogarty Road passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Henry J. Trahan and Harriett Smith Trahan and beloved husband of Susan Skaczkowski Trahan of Troy.
A well-known businessman in the community, Skip was proprietor of Quality Auto Glass and Upholstery in Troy. He was an expert at upholstering classic and antique cars, boat interiors and furniture. Skip was a man who will be remembered as a thoughtful, compassionate and generous man, who did many things to help his family and friends without question. He treasured his family, especially his grandchildren, his friends and took pride in his community. He enjoyed camping in his spare time.
Survivors in addition to his wife Susan, included his son Michael Trahan (Lisa) of Brunswick, his daughter Kathleen Trahan Collins of Troy, four grandsons Jarred Collins, Michael Collins both of Troy, Tyler Trahan and Ryan Trahan both of Brunswick, his sister Alice LePage (Armand)of Cohoes and several nieces and nephews.
Skip was also predeceased by his brother in law Emil Skaczkowski and best friend Lonny Lanteigne.
The family would like to thank the staff on the 5th and 6th floors at Samarian Hospital and Community Hospice for all their care and support.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Skip to Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 or Cure Pancreatic Cancer, www.lustgarten.org would be appreciated.
