Hilda Ernst

Hilda Alida Ernst, 96 passed away on Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Van Rensselaer Manor.

Born in North Greenbush she was the daughter to the late Elmer and Carrie Brown Ernst. Hilda graduated from Troy High School, class of 1938 and the Mildred Elly Business School. She resided in Wynantskill for many years before moving to Menands and then to Beechwood in Troy.

Hilda worked for the New York Telephone Company in Albany, retiring after 33 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill and former member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of St. Mary’s Hospital auxiliary and volunteer.

Hilda is survived by her nephew Wayne and his wife Janis Ernst of West Sand Lake, her great nieces Teri and her husband Michael Martoccio of Wynantskill and Suzanne and her husband Randy Howell of Ashburn , Va., her great great nieces Olivia Howell and Abigail Howell and her cousin Gladys Larkin of East Greenbush.

She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Ernst and brother Harold Ernst.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the church.
