Hope Knight

Hope Dormandy Mealy Knight, 96, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015.

Hope was born and raised in Troy; she was the daughter to the late Charles Dormandy and Elizabeth Bradshaw Dormandy. Hope was the wife to the late Arnold Mealy and Robert Knight.

She graduated from Lansingburgh High School, class of 1937; she attended Mildred Elly Business College. Hope worked for Troy Savings Bank for 13 years, retiring in 1979 and then worked for Temple Beth El on Hoosick Street from 1980 to 1996. Hope enjoyed swimming, golfing and spending time with her family; she was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lansingburgh.

She is survived by her children, Karen (William) Mealy Landau-Gnatek of Saratoga Springs and Richard (Margaret) Mealy of Clifton, VA., her seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her siblings, Marcia Brown of Watervliet, Gilbert (Doris) Dormandy, David (Shirley) of Brunswick, also survived by several nieces and nephews

In addition to her husbands, Arnold and Robert, she was predeceased by her sons, Kenneth Mealy and David Mealy, her brother, Roger Dormandy and her longtime companion, Norman Bentzen.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel in Oakwood Cemetery with Father David Sutcliffe officiating.

Cremation and burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited and may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga.
