James B. Fredricks passed away peacefully into eternal life after a long, hard fought and courageous battle against Alzheimer’s disease on May 20, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family who loved him very much, our beloved husband, dad, papa and brother.

Jim was born on April 1, 1930 and was the loving son of the late Edward E. Fredricks Sr and Jane Fagan Fredricks.

On March 11, 1951 he married his loving and devoted wife Loretta M. Hogan Fredricks at the former St. Francis Desales Church.

He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1950 to 1952, he retired from Lydall Paper Company formerly Manning Paper in 1992 where he was dedicated employee for over 40 years, after retirement Jim, along with Loretta, enjoyed his daily walk in the Oakwood Cemetery, he could tell you where every general was buried.

Jim was a huge New York Yankee and Notre Dame Football Fan, he enjoyed time spent at the emerald athletic club where he was a lifetime member, he looked forward to his annual trip to Ogunquit, Maine where he would walk the marginal way into Perkins Cove ending with lunch at Jackie’s Too, but nothing gave Dad more pleasure than babysitting his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he loved our family gatherings especially the summer back yard picnics.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Loretta M. Fredricks, his beloved children, Patricia (Thomas) Maleski of Latham, Diane Salvi of Waterford, James B. Fredricks Jr (Peggy) of Waterford, Joan (Mike) Laviolette of Troy, Raymond (Deborah) Fredricks of Schaghticoke, his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren (who absolutely adored their Papa) Kenneth (Cara) Salvi of Clifton Park and their children Jake, Taegen, Andrew and Taryn Salvi, Michele (David) Belak of Waterford and their children Logan, Cole and Gavin Belak, Marc Salvi of Brunswick and his children Max and Maddison Salvi, James B. Fredricks III of Troy, Kasey (Brian) Carmichael of Clifton Park, Michael Laviolette of Brooklyn, Kristie (Tyler) Marino of Troy and their son Mason James Marino, Aerica Fredricks of Troy and Alexis “Lex” Fredricks of Troy, his loving brother Robert Fredricks of Brunswick, his sisters in law Eva Fredricks of Brunswick and Kathryn Fredricks of Waterford, also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his beloved sister and brothers, Mary “Betty” Ferritto, Edward E. Fredricks Jr, Charles Fredricks and Raymond Fredricks, his brother in law Romie Ferritto and his sister in law Frances Fredricks.

Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.

Funeral mass 9:30 am on Thursday at St. Joseph Church, committal service will follow with military honors at Gardner Earl Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery.
