James McDonald

James M. McDonald, 53 passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends after a brief illness.

Born in Twentynine Palms Marine Base, CA , he was the son of Francis J. McDonald and Patricia Callahan McDonald of Troy.

Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, class of 1980 and Marist College where he was proud to have played hockey. Jim was a pharmaceutical sales representative for 30 years, most recently with Actavis. He was a member of the Country Club of Troy where he loved participating in all the tournaments. A sports enthusiast, he was an avid golfer and hunter. Jim will be remembered as a thoughtful and generous man who loved a good conversation. He infused wisdom and enthusiasm in all his debates.


Survivors in addition to his parents, include his Complicated Bundle of Joy Donna Donohue Engelke of Troy, his sister Erin Mack (John) of Brunswick, David McDonald of Saranac, Kevin McDonald (Kelly) of Dallas, TX, his niece Emily Mack, two nephews Jack and Will McDonald, Donna's children, Amanda Engelke of Troy, Paul Engelke (Kaylin) of Brunswick and proud "Papa Jimmy" to Laila Grace and Paul William Engelke.


Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Avenue, Troy, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.

Donations may be made in Jim's memory to LaSalle Institute, 174 Williams Rd, Troy, NY 12180
