Jean McLeod Bestle, “Sheena” 78, of Pawling Avenue passed away on December 22, 2016 at Community Hospice in Samaritan Hospice.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland she was the daughter of the late Edward McLeod and Agnes Gailey McLeod and beloved wife of John H. Bestle who died in 2010.

Sheena came to the United States in 1951 at the age of 13.  She was a graduate of Troy High School. She was an Administrative Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institution in the psychology department for over 30 years.  Sheena enjoyed her golf league with her par-tee girls at Frear Park.  She was an avid supporter of R.P. I. hockey and especially loved going to her grandchildren’s sport activities.  Sheena was a friend whose loyalty was constant, she was a woman who influenced those whom she met with the grace of her presence, her understanding heart, her ready smile and genuine loving concern.  The world is a much richer place because of her life among us.

Survivors include her son John S. Bestle “Jak” (Sharon) of Troy, her two daughters Cheryl Germinerio (Joe) of Wynantskill, Jude Bestle of Troy, her seven beloved grandchildren, Victoria and Paige Bestle, Alina, Joseph, John and Maurice Germinerio and Mia Losee, two nieces Dawn Caiazza, Dana McLeod Small, cousin Shirley Gully, special friends Dot Poland, Patty Canfield, Eleanor Wilson, Nancy McCauley and Lorriane Stone.

Sheena was predeceased by her brother David McLeod.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Samaritan Hospital for all their care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on December 28, 2016 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Avenue, Wynantskill, with Rev. Anthony Ligato officiating.
