Joan Sibley (Gemmill) McReavy

Joan Sibley McReavy, age 74 of Mechanicville, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2022.  Retired from nursing, Joan was a loving wife, mom, nana and aunt.  Born in Bennington, VT, she moved to the Capital District to pursue her education. She was a graduate of Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing (‘68), and continued the majority of her career at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

After retiring, Joan continued to share her passion by providing staff development in nursing homes.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting the beach and painting.  She was also an active member of the Alumni Association for Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing.

Joan was predeceased by her parents Edward and Lois Sibley of Bennington, VT.  She is survived by her husband, Clifford McReavy, her children, Adam (Kristee) Gemmill, Lauren Gemmill and Darcy (Michael) Kane; her four grandchildren, Cameron and Conor Gemmill and Nicholas and Joseph Kane; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Michael Hanhurst; and her nephews Todd (Anita) and Tyler Hanhurst.  

 The family would like to thank the staff at Peregrine Senior Living at Clifton Park and the nursing staff on C-6 at Ellis Hospital who cared for her during her last days.  

Family and friends are invited to attend services at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 109th Street, Troy, on Tuesday, September 6 from 4-7pm.  A private burial will be held at the Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, VT, on September 7.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association honoring Joan.
