A devoted father, loyal family member and compassionate friend passed away in Albany, NY on February 27, 2019. John Bojnowski will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John was born in Charleston, West Virginia on December 10, 1975. He lived in Jacksonville, Florida, Newtown, Connecticut and New Brunswick, New Jersey. A favorite place throughout his life was the Sacandaga Lake in Mayfield, NY, where he enjoyed many outdoor activities. John was most at home in nature, especially alongside his faithful brindle boxer, Kailee. He was a steadfast Mets fan and loved exploring his creative side, including photography and DIY projects.
John attended Rutgers University and the Rockefeller School at SUNY Albany. He worked at Centro Civico of Amsterdam and the New York State Assembly as an advocate for youth and education.
John had a big laugh, an even bigger heart, and a warm and fun-loving spirit. John was down-to-earth, accepting of all people and passionate about meeting them where they were. He never turned down an opportunity to lend a helping hand.
The joy of John’s heart was his five year old son Caleb. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, Joe and Jane, his siblings, Wendy Bojnowski, Perry James and Laura Ryan, and his beloved aunt and uncle, Dale and Larry Kovarovic. His mother Kathryn Lorence and brother Chad Bojnowski have surely welcomed his spirit somewhere beyond this world.
