John Keefer

Troy- John J. Keefer, 81, of Troy passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018, with his family by his side after a series of illnesses.

Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Frederick Keefer and Rose Bouchard Keefer and loving husband to Evelyn Hunisak Keefer.

John proudly served in the United States Air Force with 4 years of active duty as Early Warning Radio Operator on Sarushima Island, Japan (Monkey Island) and Vehicle Mechanic. Following his time in the Air Force, John worked for Norton Co., where he retired after 38 years.

John enjoyed anything to do with cars, including racing car history and car auctions and restoration. He also found great joy in following his granddaughters in their various sporting events.

In addition to his wife, Evelyn, John is survived by his daughter, Debra Keefer of Waterford, his son Todd Keefer of Troy, his granddaughters, Brooke and Riley Keefer of Troy and his brother, Richard Keefer of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his son, Steven J. Keefer and his brothers Fred Keefer, David Keefer and Eugene Keefer.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 3pm to 6pm at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 109th Street, Troy, NY 12182.

Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 13, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
