John "Jack" Gardner

John "Jack" Gardner

Lenoir, NC – John F. Gardner “Jack”, 99 formerly of New Port Richie, FL and Troy, passed away on Monday November 26, 2018 at the Caldwell UNC Hospital.

Born and raised in Troy, he was the son of the late Elmer E. Gardner and Carrie Hansen Gardner, and the loving husband to Lillian Bosca Gardner, who passed in 1973.

He graduated from Lansingburgh High School, class of 1936, and served in the United States Army, 38th Cavalry Recon during World War II, in New Guinea and the Philippines.

He was a member of the American Legion, Post 79 in New Port Richie.

John retired from Fitzgerald Bros Beverages in Glens Falls as the company comptroller after many years.

John is survived by his son Richard J. (Denise) Gardner of Hudson, NC. his grandson Eric Conan, his great grandson Nikolai Ryan of Callaway FL, grandson Matthew (Nina) Empie, great-grandsons Matthew, Jacob, Camdyn and great grand-daughter Carolyne of Raymertown and niece Karen Donlon of Latham.

In addition to his mother, father and wife, John was predeceased by his sister Doris Della Rocco.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 1, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy. Family and friends will meet 12:00 pm Saturday at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
