Josephine (Ciejka) Stasack, 98 years old, formerly of Troy and Rensselaer, NY, passed peacefully into eternal bliss Friday June 2, 2023.
Josephine was born to Joseph and Victoria (DeLong) Ciejka in March of 1925 in Troy, NY. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph (Rocky) Stasack of over 50 years in 2011. She is survived by her sons Michael and his wife June (Slepchuk) and their son Nickolas, and James (Jay) and his wife Connie (Ray), and her daughter Meghan and husband William Silva and their children William, James and Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews. Josie had five sisters Mary Rosenkrans, Jane Barney, Bertha Sheehan, Shella Stasack and Lillian Huskie. In their younger years, Josie and her sisters were city champions in softball, which she was extremely proud of. She would say “a bunch of poor pollack girls from South Troy proved everyone wrong when they won the city championship”. Josie and her sisters enjoyed many trips together to New Jersey and you could always tell when they were near by their red hats and loud and happy voices.
She loved to travel with her husband and visited many US states along with Spain, Canary Islands, Mexico and Canada.
Josie worked for Allegheny Ludlum and for many years Cluett and Peabody before her retirement. She loved to crochet and left her family many wonderful tablecloths to remember her by. Josie loved people and always made everyone laugh. She loved to entertain her younger nieces, nephews, cousins and grandson at the holidays with tales of her escapades in her youth jumping off roofs trying to fly or stealing coal from the train cars where they grew up along the tracks in South Troy. She will be missed as there is one less happy person in this world.
We would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their loving care of our mom over 5 years.
