Kathleen C. Whalen, 67 passed away peacefully on May 29, 2015 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Troy on September 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. Whalen and Ella Teal Whalen.
Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Troy High School. She was proudly employed in the Environmental Services Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before retiring in 1989 due to Multiple Sclerosis.
Kathleen is survived by her much loved life partner of 34 years, Susan M. Drescher of Troy, her son Christopher M. Whalen (Elizabeth) of Troy, her cherished grandson Christopher M. Whalen, Jr., of Troy, her sister Elizabeth Zychowski (Andrew), her brother Michael Whalen (Jacqueline) all of Watervliet and several nieces and nephews.
She looks forward to seeing her late brother Robert Whalen in heaven.
Kathleen and her family would like to especially thank Dr. Charles Sulzman, Dr. Jose Posada and the staff of St. Mary's Hospital and the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their gentle and loving care.
Funeral services will be 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Avenue, Cohoes where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
