Kathryn Vasiliades

Athens Greece-Kathryn Vasiliades passed away peacefully on May 29, 2022 in Athens, Greece.

Born on July 19, 1930, in Philadelphia PA to Nicholas and Maria Kondoprias.  She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas S. Vasiliades and her sister Akrevoe (George) Emmanouilides.

Kay is survived by her daughter Hope (Dimitrios) Fedas, Athens, Greece and her brother Theodore Kondoprias (Felia, deceased) of Albany, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kay as she was known, moved to Troy after her marriage to Nick. She worked at the State Bank of Albany until the birth of her daughter Hope. After her husband’s passing, she resumed his place in the family business, the Famous Lunch, until she retired. She also worked at H&R BLOCK for several years.

Kay was warm and friendly and always had a smile on her face and will be remembered for always wearing her red lipstick. She loved knitting and frequently gave her creations as gifts. She enjoyed cooking and baking and everyone looked forward to receiving their package of Christmas cookies and baklava. She also loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, which was her childhood dream and to Greece to visit her daughter, where she spent her final years.

She was an active member of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Kay had a beautiful soprano voice and was a member of the church choir.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 - 109th Street, Troy, NY. Funeral 11:30 a.m. at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 909 River Street, Troy, NY. Internment immediately following at Elmwood Hills Cemetery, Troy, NY.
