Lynn C. Stadtlander

LANSINGBURGH, NY Lynn C. Stadtlander, 90, died on 9/30/23 at home in the presence of his loving family after bravely fighting through a number of prolonged health problems since 2002.

Lynn resided in Germantown NY until he entered the US Air Force in 1952. He was a graduate of Germantown HS and he attended the State University of New York at Albany. He was the son of the late Edward and Pauline Hover Smith Stadtlander.

Prior to his retirement in 1991, Lynn was employed by the State of New York Office of the State Comptroller as a Business Budget Analyst. Lynn was a past member of the Troy Elks Lodge # 141.

He was also a Lector at St. Augustine's Church in Troy NY. He had also been active in the Troy Area Literacy Volunteers of America.

Lynn proudly and honorably served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

Lynn was a diehard, lifelong San Francisco Giants fan and coached them from his armchair until the end. The NY Giants football team will be lost without their lifelong number one fan. Lynn honed his hands-on coaching through many hours teaching his daughters and son the skills of playing softball and baseball. Lansingburgh Miss Softball and Little League teams never met a finer, more patient coach.

Lynn also spent many cold winter mornings tying the skates of his oldest son while he played rec hockey. He cheered on his children as they ran in track meets and road races. This was all done while handling the active and sometimes topsy-turvy life that comes with a family of 7 children often going in 7 directions.

Over the years his children and Grandchildren were blessed with many “Poppy stories” which they will cherish and retell for years to come. Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara A. (Fayles) Stadtlander, and children Linda (Joe Durkin), Lauren (Tim Herbs), Lisa (Pat Popolizio), John Stadtlander, Sharon (Don Kearns), Sheila Stadtlander and David (Franka). He was the proud Poppy to TJ Popolizio (Janelle), Lucas Popolizio (Elise), Molly (Aaron O’Callahan), Christopher and Steven Herbs, Meaghan (Ben Bancroft), Ryan Stadtlander, Rachel Kearns, Zachary (Emily), Chad Smith and his Great Granddaughter, Luciana O’Callahan. He is also survived by a niece and several nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Kent and Gene Stadtlander and his daughter-in-law Kathleen (Leonard) Stadtlander.

Lynn’s family are very appreciative of the attentive care that Lynn received from his caring and dedicated aides Jackie Austin and Melissa Cooper and the services he received while he was at Daughters of Sarah which helped him return to his home earlier this year, and all the support we received from Hospice during his final days.

Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday October 4, 2023 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home 8-109th Street (corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh).
