Maria Rivera passed unexpectedly and entered God's gates on August 5, 2015 at the tender age of 50. Maria was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. She was most recently employed as a Member Retention Representative at Axion Health Care in New York City. She was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, was raised in Troy, New York before moving to New York City a few years ago.
Maria is survived by her husband, Michael Reed, and her daughter Jasmine Williams, her stepson Mike Reed and her mother Eladia "Yaya" Lind-Baez. She is predeceased by her father Francisco "Paco" Rivera and StepFather Willie Farley. She was the sister to Jose Rosa (Sue), Francisco "Cisco" Rivera (Linda), Herman Rivera and sister-in-law of Bertha Williams; predeceased by her brother Luis Rosa-Lind. She was the niece of Suzy, Jesus, Juan, Felix, William and Ernesto Lind. She is predeceased by a host of other uncles, aunts and cousins. She is also survived by her cousin Giselle Lindsey and "sisters of the heart" Izivel McKnight Lind (Juan), Iveliz Lind (Sean Davis), Jesus Lind Jr., Cesar and Surgeiry Lind, and special long-time "sister friends" of Belinda Rosa and Miliza Rodriguez Rosa .
She is also survived by her nephews Jose, Jovani and Jaden Rosa, Luis Rosa, Francisco and Mason Rivera and her niece, Yeliza Garcia.
Maria was loved by many for her generous and giving spirit. She was fiery and full of life and the ultimate "fashionista" who loved her designer pocketbooks and stiletto heels. Maria loved spending time during the summer, traveling and hanging out at the lake house with her family and friends, posting pictures on Facebook and eating her favorite foods. Maria will be missed by everyone for her spunky, vibrant and straightforward approach to life. Her greatest and most treasured love was her daughter Jasmine, who she was extremely proud of and her loving husband Michael who gave her the world.
Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. on Monday August 10, 2015 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 28 State Street, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
