Troy- Mary E. (Mantello) Elden, 97, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 5, 2022. Mary was born on February 2, 1924 in Troy, NY to the late Chester and Frances Mantello. She was the loving wife of the late Leslie E. Elden, he died in 1991.
Mary graduated from Sacred Heart School in Troy. She was a devoted wife and mother to ten children. Mary’s love for singing was contagious. In fact, people would call her just to listen to her singing message on her answering machine. She had an infectious smile that would light up a room. She enjoyed her days and evenings out playing bingo, miniature golf, shopping and her many road trips with her husband. Mary mostly loved being with her family. She was a former parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Troy.
Mary is survived by her loving children Frances Anne Maceda (Raymond) of Michigan, Mary Beth Durivage (Arthur) of Troy, Debra Dziamba (Peter) of Melrose, Darlene Bubb (Philip) of Troy, Leslie Elden of Watervliet, David Elden (Heather) of Valatie, Paul Elden (Cathy) of Troy, Carole Landy (Joseph) of Speigletown, her siblings Anthony Mantello (Antoinette) and James Mantello (Donna), her twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, father and her loving husband, Leslie, Mary is predeceased by her two children Sharon (Thomas) Hepp and Robert Elden, her grandchildren Steven Durivage and RayScott Maceda, her siblings Theresa Ciccarelli, Anna Rose Mantello, Dominick Mantello, Nicholas Mantello, Joseph Mantello and Salvatore Mantello.
The family would like to thank all of her aides for their compassion and loving care, the staff of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their constant care, St. Peter’s Health partners, especially Dr. Rhonda Esposito for her attentive care, and The Eddy Alzheimer’s Services for their support during this difficult time.
Family and friends are invited and may call from 8:30 AM-10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Funeral mass will follow calling hours at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Church, 25 115th Street, Troy, NY 12182. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
