Patricia Lyons

Troy –Patricia A. Lyons, 75, joined her loving husband Jim in heaven, on April 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Patti was born on July 30, 1943, in North Adams, MA. She was the loving daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy (Mahoney) Garofano.

Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Tamarac High School and Troy Beauty School. Patti worked as a hair dresser at the Hollywood Beauty Salon in downtown Troy until she and Jim began their family, at which time she devoted her life and love as a homemaker, and full-time mom, raising her three children.

Patti was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the heart and soul of her loving family and found her greatest happiness when she was surrounded by them. Her three children were her pride and joy, as were her eight grandchildren. She loved attending all her grandchildren’s sporting and school events…everyone knew Nanny was their biggest fan. Nothing brought her more joy than the love and closeness she shared with each of them.

Her husband of 42 years was the love of her life. She and Jim did everything and went everywhere together, they were inseparable. They endured life’s ups and downs with grace and love, and they always made each other laugh. Together they provided the solid foundation on which they built their strong and loving family.

In addition to her family, Patti enjoyed spending time with her friends, going to dinner, movies, and Curves. Her friends brought much laughter to her life and she loved them dearly, especially her beloved friend and ‘sister’, Cheryl Fredette.

Patti had a loving and generous heart, and always found the good in everyone and everything. She was loved by all who knew her, and quickly became beloved ‘Nanny’ by all.  Her family always came first, and she received the most joy from caring and doing for them, and others.

A life-long communicant of St. Augustine’s Church, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality and the former St. Augustine’s School Mother’s Club.

Patti was adored by all who were fortunate enough to know her and love her. She will be forever missed and eternally loved.

In addition to her husband and parents, Patti is predeceased by her father and mother in law, James (Dorothy) Lyons, and her sister in law, Catherine D. Gatzendorfer,

Survivors include her daughter, Kelli (Joseph) Perniciaro of Speigletown; two sons, James (Theresa) Lyons of Troy, and Michael Lyons of Waterford. Sister of Richard (Janet) Garofano of Fort Myers, Florida. Loving and devoted grandmother of Vinny, Jimmy, Joey, and Johnny Perniciaro of Speigletown; Kiera and Cialeigh Lyons of Mechanicville; Jack and Andy Dwyer of Troy. Also survived by brother in law, William F. Gatzendorfer, Jr. of Speigletown, daughter in law, Carrie Lyons of Mechanicville, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Patti’s family would like to thank the Staff at Van Rensselaer Manor and the Community Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday April 11, 2019 at the McLoughlin  & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Friday April 12, 2019 at St. Augustine’s Church, Troy. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
