Patrick D. Mackey, 89, of Fourth Avenue passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Detroit Michigan, he was the son of the late John J. Mackey, Sr., and Mary F. Taggart Mackey and beloved husband of Marilyn Smith Mackey of Troy. They were married for 60 years.
Raised and educated in Troy he attended Troy schools. Patrick was a proud United States veteran serving in the Navy during World War II and the Army during the Korean War, 79th Engineers, Seoul. He was a truck driver at the former Behr Manning Co. and the Norton Company in Watervliet for 46 years, retiring in 1989. Patrick loved trains and model railroading. He was an avid photographer, especially at family gatherings. He enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of Trinity Church Lansingburgh.
Survivors in addition to his wife Marilyn, include his daughter Barbara A. Mackey (Eric Ahlberg) of Norwood, MA, his son James P. Mackey (Sarah Regan) of Medford, MA, two sisters Edith Laviano (Vincent) of Troy, Patricia Caprara (Louis) of Latham, his brother William Mackey (Lena) of East Greenbush and Daytona Beach, FL, a cousin Mary Rose Ryan, four nieces Nancy and Carol Chuhta, Paula Sperry, Susan Mackey, eight nephews John Chuhta, Irving and Thomas Campbell, Daniel and Paul Laviano, Mark and Gregory Caprara and John Mackey.
Patrick was predeceased by his three brothers, twin Lawrence Mackey, John J. "Jack" Mackey, Jr., and Daniel Mackey, brothers and sisters in law Dorothy and Alexander Chuhta, Irving and Janet Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Church Lansingburgh, 585 Fourth Avenue, Lansingburgh, with Rev. Dr. Desmond Francis officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
