Reverend Richard Testa

Enfield, CT -- Reverend Richard V. Testa, formerly of Troy, died peacefully after a long illness on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield, CT.  Fr. Testa was in the loving care of the Little Sisters of the Poor, where he had lived since early 2018.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Victor Testa and Jennie (LaCross) Testa.
Fr. Testa graduated from Siena College and Fordham University.  He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
A priest for almost 50 years, Fr. Testa was ordained in the Diocese of Albany in 1971 and served in several parishes in the diocese until his retirement several years ago.
More recently, Fr. Testa served for 13 years at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Watervliet, NY and formerly at the Apostolic Formation Center Retreat Home in Somers, CT.
Fr. Testa was the brother of Fr. David R. Testa of Ave Maria University and Robert S. Testa, of New Mexico, both of whom predeceased him.  He is survived by his foster brother, James R. (Nancy) Delaney of Latham and his sister-in-law, Lorraine Testa, of New Mexico, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm at St. Augustine's Church in Troy, NY.  Burial will be in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY.
There will be a brief viewing hour for family and friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at McLoughlin and Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th St. and 3rd Ave., in Troy.
Fr. Testa's family would like to express their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Little Sisters of the Poor, both at St. Joseph's Residence, Enfield, CT and formerly at Our Lady of Hope Residence, Latham, NY, for their care for Fr. Testa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph's Residence, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield CT 06082.
Please note that social distancing, masks and occupancy limitations at church are required.
