ORLANDO, FL– Richard A. Folger “Doc”, 66, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Orlando Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 8, 1952 in Lansingburgh, he was the son of the late Ralph E. Folger, Sr. and Jean House Folger.

Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Albany.  Richard was a program supervisor for the Children’s Home Society of Florida, retiring in January of this year.  Richard had an amazing sense of fun and was a loyal friend, and the world is a much richer place because of his life among us. Richard was born with red hair because God knew he needed a warning label, his profound generosity and exuberance for life will be missed by all who knew him.  Richard loved to travel and meet new friends. He loved animals, especially dogs, elephants and apes.

Richard is survived by his three brothers Ralph (Vicki) Folger of Slingerlands, Robert (Roseanne) Folger of West Sand Lake, Rahn (Bonnie) Folger of Orlando, FL, his sister Robin (David) LaBrake of Brunswick and his beloved nieces and nephews, Jeannette Folger Beebe, Reynold Folger, Misty LaBrake Blair, Lucretia LaBrake Wilkinson, Tara Rumpler, Amy Folger, Justina Folger Martinez, Danielle Folger and Rahn Folger, Jr., his great nieces and nephews Justin Folger, Robert Beebe, Tyler and Evelyn Rumpler, Austin LaBrake, Mia and Jase Wilkinson Kennedi Wilkinson, Manuel Martinez, Savannah Blair, Vivianna and Gino Martinez, Kendahlynn Jimenez, Autumn and Jayce Jimenez,  Richard’s Florida family, his soul mate Susann Prochnow and their dog, Jack, Jean Prochnow, Clint, Julie, Amelia, Jonas and Lydia Van Winkle and Peter, Beth and Natalie Prochnow.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his sister Sandra Folger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 13, 2019 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, with Rev. E. Allen Siebold officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
