Troy-It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother Rita Katherine Mahoney Guyette. She passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius Mahoney and Ellen Powers Mahoney and the beloved wife of 70 years to the late Leonard N. Guyette. Raised and educated in Troy, she graduated from Troy High School. She worked for New York State Department of Taxation & Finance.
She and her husband Leonard traveled to Ireland, Hawaii and many other wonderful destinations, but found themselves every winter for 22 years at St. Petersburgh Beach, Florida. Summers were blissfully passed at Stone Bridge, their summer home. Rita was a women of faith, she gave thanks to God every day, for his many blessings. She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church, Lansingburgh.
Rita is survived by her children Colleen McDermont of CT., Linda (Peter) Gutta of East Greenbush and Paul (Pamela) of Florida, her seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by her siblings William, Cornelius, Alice Favata, John and Helen Bellinghausen.
Funeral services will be 9:00 am Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 9:30 am at St. Augustine’s Church, Lansingburgh. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at funeral home.
