Robert "Monk" McDermott

TROY:   Robert C. “Monk” McDermott, 63 passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Albany Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Robert E. McDermott and Marguerite C. Manley McDermott and beloved husband of JoAnne “Boo” Pasinella McDermott of Troy.

Born and raised in Troy, he was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, class of 1971, Syracuse University and Quinnipiac University.    Bob was a food broker and proprietor of Lomac Associates for over 20 years – recently merging as co-owner of Lomac/Infusion Sales.   He was a member of The Country Club of Troy, Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida, a member of the Uncle Sam Bowling League, Hilltop Bowling League and was inducted into the Troy Bowling Hall of Fame.  He bowled a 300 game over 25 times in his bowling  career and  won the title Senior Champ at the Rensselaer County Amateur Golf Tournament and Troy Country Club several times.   Bob was a talented athlete, he had an exuberance for life and he treasured his family.  He loved spending time on a beautiful summer day with his friends and family being called Bobby Bar-B-Que and taking charge of his annual Wing Fest.  Bob will be missed by all that knew him.

Survivors in addition to his wife, JoAnne include his son Robert J. McDermott (Gosia Tuznik) of Clifton Park, his daughter Sara J. McDermott of Troy, a grandson Aiden McDermott, granddaughter Victoria Rockwell, father in law Joseph Pasinella,  sister in laws Jennie Julian (Mike),  Angie Sunkes (Tom), Tina DeBonis (Michael),  Carol Donnelly (late Jimmy), Alicia O’Bomsawin (late John), brother in law Joseph Pasinella (Lois), Tom O’Konski, dear friend and golf partner Michael Manning and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his sister Christine O’Konski and his mother in law Anne Lombardo Rymanowski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Avenue, Troy.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
