Roger F. Ayotte, 77, former Lansingburgh resident was embraced in the arms of the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
Born in Cohoes on March 1, 1937, he was the son of the late Francis Ayotte and Edna Clairmont Ayotte and beloved husband of Mary C. Palladino Ayotte of Waterford.
Raised and educated in Cohoes, he was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Vicentian Institute, Albany, where he was a member of their concert and swing bands. Upon graduating from high school he worked for Western Electric as an installer and Steiner Paper Company as a tester. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, upon release from the service he attended the SUNY Albany where he graduated in 1966. After graduation, he worked for the General Electric Co. at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna. He graduated from the General Electric Co. Financial Management Training Program and held numerous postions until he retired in 2001. Roger was a man of faith and service and was devoted to his family. He enjoyed family vacations to Florida, Cape Cod and Long Beach Island. A sports enthusiast, he was an avid NASCAR and NY Giants fan. He also enjoyed running. He was a former member of St. Patrick's Church, Troy, where he served as a religious education teacher and eucharistic minister.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Mary, include his children Stephen Ayotte of Waterford, Kathleen Grimmick (John, Jr.) of West Sand Lake, Colleen Ciccarelli (Joseph) of Guilderland, Mark Ayotte (Abigail) of Waterford, seven treasured grandchildren Anna Catherine Ciccarelli, Julia Margaret Ciccarelli, Joseph Michael Ciccarelli, Jr., Samantha Margaret Ayotte, Ethan Thomas Ayotte, John Edward Grimmick, III, William Philip Grimmick, a sister Janet Pollay (late John) of Cohoes, brothers in law George Palladino (Theresa), Philip Palladino (late Phyllis), Michael Palladino (Patricia), sister in law Jean Ahearn (late William), beloved nieces and nephews, John Pollay (Laurie), Bonnie Hill, Jacqueline Buchan, Daniel Pollay (Rachel), Kris DeLair (Kirk), Linda Schumaci (Michael) Lauren Crill (Timothy), Layne Volkman (Peter), Damien Palladino (A.J.), Patricia Mayben (Michael) Daniel Palladino, Margaret Mary Palladino, Jennifer Coso (Matthew), Michelle Wagner (Rob), Michael Palladino, (Amy),Susan Schultz (Paul) Matthew Palladino (Nicole), Joseph Palladino (Carol), Mary Beth Bendon (Michael) and several cousins, great nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Cardiac Critical Unit at St. Peter's Hospital for their efficient and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, with Rev. David Jones officiating.
Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Calling hours will be held 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
